November Actions
Inspired by our guest speakers on Rights of Nature this month, here are three actions you can take to support the Rights of Nature movement:
1. Keep Learning!
Here are two book suggestions to continue learning more about the Rights of Nature movement: Rights of Nature: A Legal Revolution that Could Save the World by David R. Boyd and Wild Law: A Manifesto for Earth Justice by Cormac Cullinan.
2. Think Local
Our neighbor, The City of Santa Monica, is one of the case studies in the Rights of Nature movement. Write a letter to your local government representative in support of replicating these Rights of Nature initiatives in Los Angeles and surrounding cities. The Earth Law Center provides a useful Community Tool Kit that offers an easy-to-digest overview of the Rights of Nature movement to use as a launch pad for local efforts. Click Here to access the tool kit.
3. Share the Word:
Share the information you've learned about Rights of Nature with friends, family, and colleagues--Thanksgiving can be a great chance to chat! You can also join an online community of advocates like the Rights of Nature Facebook Group to keep up with news about the movement.
