Inspired by our July guest speaker, California Assemblymember Adrin Nazarian, this month we dive into participating in the legislative process. Here are 3 things you can do this month to start exercising your voice:
1. Know your Representatives!
Did you know only a third of Americans can name their governor and only 20% can name their state legislator?* The first step in using the power of our vote to influence climate action is just knowing who represents you at the national, state, and local levels of government! Use this super-handy website to plug in your address and find out who your representatives are:

2. Call your Representatives:
Receiving a phone call from a constituent carries much more weight with a politician than an email or letter. It's one of the best things you can do to persuade your representative to make climate action a priority. Plus, you don't have to say much! The script is unbelievably simple. Challenge yourself this month, step out of your comfort zone, and practice making a call to your representative. Click Here for a sample script and a list of bills you can call about this month.
3. Attend a SFV Climate Reality Legislative Committee Meeting:
Our legislative committee does an amazing job tracking upcoming bills and which representatives are supporting them or not. It's an easy way to learn more about advocacy and the legislative process, as well as get up-to-date info on current bills related to climate action.
