October Actions

This month we're doing a check-in on our recycling habits! Here are three actions you can take this month to make sure you're following best practices for recycling and keeping things out of the waste stream:

1. Know Your City's Recycling

When was the last time you reviewed LA's recycling guidelines? Are you sure you know which bin to put things in? Take a quick look at this helpful guide to recycling in LA to refresh your recycling knowledge:

2. Blue Bin Tips:

  • Bag your Bags! Put all plastic bags into one plastic bag.

  • Put shredded paper into a paper bag marked "Shredded Paper"

  • Rinse your plastic and glass jars/bottles. They don't need to be spotless, just clean of most debris.

  • Other types of glass should be put in the Black Bin.

3. S.A.F.E. Centers:

Electronics, paint, chemicals, motor oil, batteries, and fluorescent bulbs should NOT be put in the Black Bin or curbside. CLICK HERE for a list of S.A.F.E. centers in the City of L.A. where you can dispose/recycle these items.
