Current Legislative Action

CURRENT ACTION (as of 5/8/26): Call your CA State Senator and Assemblymember and ask them to vote YES on the bills listed below when they come to the floor for a vote.

Bills we are currently calling Assemblymembers to support:

AB 2612: Building Standards: Qualified Plug-In Photovoltaic Systems -- Directs state agencies to codify electrical circuit features and safety requirements to support plug-and-play solar.

AB 2184: Cap and Invest Program: Nature-Based Climate Solutions -- Annual appropriation of GGRF: $250,000,000 for nature-based solutions for natural, working and urban lands, $100,000,000 to Natural Resources Agency, and $100,000,000 at discretion of legislature.

AB 2383: Electricity: Large Energy Use Facilities -- Requires the CPUC to create a new retail electricity consumer classification to ensure that large energy use facilities pay their fair share and other ratepayers do not bear rate increases because of the energy demands by data centers. Data centers will be required to enter into a 15 year service agreement to ensure the financial responsibility remains with the facilities.

Bills we are currently calling Senators to support:

SB 1295: Energy Storage Systems: Procurement -- For any proposed distribution or transmission infrastructure investment above a threshold established by the CPUC, an electrical corporation shall evaluate whether distributed energy storage systems or other non-wire alternatives can meet the identified reliability or capacity need.

SB 1359: Gas Transmission Responsibility and Electrification Act -- Authorize the retirement or discontinuation of natural gas distribution infrastructure where the commission finds that continued operation is inconsistent with the public interest, ensure that costs associated with avoidable natural gas leakage, including methane emissions resulting from inadequate maintenance or infrastructure replacement delays, are not recovered from ratepayers, capital investment is consistent with the state’s greenhouse gas emission reduction targets.

SB 1305: California Grizzly Restoration Act -- A multi-phase process to address the historic loss of grizzly bears and begin their restoration to California. Establishes an official state policy to restore grizzlies and directs the California Department of Fish and Wildlife to develop and publish a reintroduction roadmap to include scientific assessments of habitat suitability and population viability, consultation with California Native American Tribes, engagement with local communities, and recommended procedures to minimize risk of human-wildlife conflict.

Bills we are currently calling Assemblymembers to support:

AB 1536: Offshore Permitting & Regulation -- Strengthens safety rules for oil pipelines and prevents pipelines that are considered unsafe from restarting operations.

AB 2254: Coastal Monarch Protections Act -- Protects and preserves coastal habitat that monarch butterflies rely on during their migration.

Bills we are currently calling Senators to support:

SB 1215: Electric Vehicle Charging for Multifamily Housing -- Directs Investor-Owned Utilities (IOUs) to expand Level 2 and Level 3 EV charging at multifamily housing by at least tripling existing chargers and establishes ratepayer protections.

SB 868: Plug & Play Solar Act -- Lowers consumer energy bills, diversifies energy resources, reduces strain on the electric grid, and helps cut air pollution by: Defining a portable solar energy device as a small device that meets a consumer’s on- site electricity needs; Establishing mandatory safety standards for a portable solar energy device; Prohibiting unnecessary red tape; Driving economies of scale for portable solar energy devices to help lower costs for all consumers.
