About the event
The ocean plays a vital role in regulating climate through ocean circulation, holding 50 times more carbon dioxide than the atmosphere, and absorbing nearly 25% of human emissions of CO2. Join us to hear The Ocean Foundation's Program Manager, Katie Thompson, discuss her work on projects that bring countries together to conserve and study shared marine resources, restore marine and coastal habitats, develop national and regional environmental policies, support community-based alternative livelihoods, and protect endangered marine species.
We'll also hear from Lucy Hunt, Senior Advisor for Summits & Learning at The Ocean Race. Last summer, the Ocean Race launched One Blue Voice, a new initiative to drive public support for ocean rights. The ambitious campaign aims to give the ocean a voice and put in place a global framework for protecting the marine environment, which is critical to maintaining the health of the planet.
