Artificial Turf: the Problems, the Facts, and the Solutions

In 2023, the state legislature passed a law reversing a previous law that prevented cities from banning artificial turf on residential property, and it's been a wild ride since. In June, Councilmember Blumenfield introduced a motion to begin the process of banning artificial turf in Los Angeles (council file 24-0602), and he will join us to discuss that motion and its journey. Then we will discuss the challenges with artificial turf to our health and to the health of our planet, as well as how we can make the transition back to natural turf when the City is on a tight budget.
