About the event
The Southern California News Group ran an editorial endorsing Prop 45 in each of its 11 daily newspapers on Sept. 9, and a similar editorial ran in the San Diego Union-Tribune on Sept. 11. The editorials repeat the misleading information coming from the YES on Prop 45 campaign, which is funded by California Chamber of Commerce, data center developers, for-profit utilities, and some of the state’s biggest corporations.
We need to fight back against this misinformation campaign by submitting as many letters to the editor to these news outlets as possible, refuting the inaccuracies and explaining why Prop 45 is a mistake before voters make up their minds. Please join us on Zoom for a one-hour Action Meeting on Tuesday Sep 15, 7-8pm, where we'll guide you through writing a short (150 words!), impactful letter to submit. We'll make it easy with templates, background, and instructions on how and where to submit your letter; all you have to do is show up and personalize the issue with your own voice!
Even if not every letter gets published, it's important that we submit as many as possible so that these newspapers understand just how many voters are opposed to Prop 45 and balance their future coverage of the proposition. Please devote an hour to climate action this week and join us to write a letter on Tuesday.
