April Actions

Inspired by our April guest speaker James Evans from International Dark Sky Association, here are three ways you can help reduce light pollution and promote dark skies:

1. Use Dark-Sky Friendly Lighting

IDA has a database to help you find the right lights! Choose dark sky-friendly lighting next time you replace an outdoor fixture.

2. Do an Outdoor Lighting Assessment

Unnecessary lighting impacts the sky, local wildlife, and energy consumption. Follow this step-by-step guide to conduct an outdoor lighting assessment around your home to evaluate the impact of your light on the night.

3. Visit a Dark Sky Place

Two popular Dark Sky Places near the SFV are Joshua Tree and Death Valley. Click Here for a map of Dark Sky Places.
